Car Insurance Tips

This is a surprising product for me to recommend. However, I found real car insurance tips for saving money. Over the years, I have seen dozens of ads, all promising to lower my car insurance, and each time I see one I always assume it is just another insurance company trying to get me to switch to their product.

Injured In An Accident?

FREE Evaluation of your claim...

Because insurance costs can rise after car accidents, it seemed that a book offering car insurance tips on how to lower insurance rates, if that was actually possible, would be a great fit for this site.

Car Insurance Tips

So, I bought it. I read it. And boom, in one phone call to my insurance company, I saved $270.00 a year on my policy. I was truly amazed, especially because I thought I had paid good attention to my policy. I had really thought there was no other places for me to save money on my policy!

This book is straightforward, offers real car insurance tips, is easy to read and covers a lot of ground.

Important: Don't Do This

The author and I disagree on one very important point only. As a health care provider, I feel it is important for you to carry PIP on your insurance. The author suggests that if you have good coverage on your health insurance you do not need PIP coverage.

However, I disagree with this advice, and here is why. Most health insurance only covers 80% of a health incident. That means you are on the hook for 20% of your bill. If you are taken to the hospital in an ambulance from the site of the crash, and have diagnostics in the hospital, your bill can hit $10,000.00 in one visit. You will be responsible for 20% of this bill.

You do not need to land in debt and be worried about your bills when you have injuries and car repairs and other disruptions to deal with.

With health insurance you also must pay a co-pay for each medical appointment you have. Say you see your medical doctor for an initial visit, your chiropractor and your massage therapist in one week. For the average health insurance you would have to pay $60.00 for that week alone.

What if you needed 2 visits with your chiropractor and your massage therapist that same week, all of a sudden you are up over $100 in co-pays.

The next issue is that all health insurance companies limit how many medical visits you are allowed in one year. The average amount of treatment in Washington state for instance, is 12 visits a year.

The average car accident victim is seen 15 times, a more serious injury can be twice that. So, you would need more treatment, and have no insurance coverage. The majority of patients cannot afford to pay as they go for treatments.

So, if you can, even though one of the car insurance tips is to cancel you PIP, please do keep PIP insurnance on your plan. If you do not have PIP, make sure you are well covered by your health insurance.

Need To Buy A Car?

The author covers how to buy a car for the very best price, which was a terrific chapter and would have been worth the price of the book alone. I can't tell you how many conversations I have with folks about how difficult it can be to buy a car and feel like you got the best price.

Most people just end up feeling like they were taken advantage of and the whole experience ends up being extremely stressful. If a new car is in your future, or the future of one of your loved ones, this chapter is well worth the cost of the book.

Was Your Car Damaged?

The book also covers car insurnance tips and real facts if your car has been badly damaged. This section is so valuable I am planning to devote an entire page to it in the near future.

The author provides step by step instructions on how to evaluate the insurance you already have and how to lower your current bill. The author provides a worksheet and provides careful, detailed information and car insurance tips about what each part of your insurance bill means, and where to save cold, hard cash.
