Concussion or Whiplash or Both?
by Amelia R.
Hi, i was driving my dodge interpid on i-44 in Tulsa, OK it was a night and it was raining heavily. I was in the slow lane and then my hydroplane across the highway, hit the median on the side of the highway and ended up in the fast lane.
Luckily a man saw the accident and help me get the car onto the shoulder and picked up my fender and put into the car. Pretty much my car was totaled and i remember from the accident that i my head tilted back on impact and hit the dashboard. The airbags didn't go off. But after the accident had a mild headache and back pain after i was treated at the hospital.
Well, it back three since my accident. I still have neck pain one side of neck and have severe headache and shoulder and lower pain. Could tell if I have concussion or if have whiplash.
Hi there, Michelle here...
I am sorry to hear about your accident, sounds very scary! When you hit your head it is very common to have headaches and neck pain afterwards. You didn’t tell me how long ago your car accident was? So you need to get some treatment specifically for your neck and back.
A chiropractor will make a big difference in your pain. As soon as you start getting treatment, your headaches will start to get better. You could have both a concussion and whiplash. Its not a matter of either or, its often both after an accident.
So, when you see the chiropractor make sure to tell her or him that you hit your head, and want to know if you may have had a concussion. The chiropractor is a doctor and will know if you should see a specialist or if your condition is healing well on its own.
Make sure you have your car checked out fully and that the car repair shop also makes sure you have good tires on your car. If your tires are badly worn, this can cause accidents in heavy rain.
Best Regards, M.
