I have signed a medical form with the at fault insurance. My bills I am paying are rising, especially the new hospital bill that came in from initial er visit. At fault insurance said I would get reimbursed when this is settled, and they are collecting all bills/records. I need further therapy per my doctor. Medically I have no insurance. Is it wise to continue on my own w/o attorney? Is it to late to get one? Accident was 1/11/13.
Hi there, Michelle here...
Yes – you should get a lawyer. Right away.
Yes it is the true that you will be reimbursed after the settlement, but you should not have to pay for your medical care until the settlement.
In Rhode Island you have 3 years from the date of the accident to settle, close or bring a lawsuit. This means you can seek treatment all the way to the end of the 3 year period, and still hire a lawyer, as long as you hire the lawyer before the 3 years comes to the end.
A lawyer will:
* make sure you have the medical care you need.
*Will make sure you receive a fair settlement.
*And a lawyer will help you so you don’t go broke, or have to stop seeking treatment because you don’t have medical coverage.
So, please hire a lawyer right away. Here is how, click here do you need a lawyer? there is a form on the right, easy to use and it will put you in contact with a lawyer who will help you get the help you need.
