no health insurance
I was involved in a car accident in which the other driver (insured) was at fault. It is the following day and my neck is really hurting and I need to get it examined. Problem is, I do not have health insurance. What should I do? I am in Phoenix, Arizona.
Hi there, Michelle here...
I am sorry to hear about your accident. You do NOT have to have health insurance to be treated for a car accident. The other drivers insurance is responsible for all your medical care.
I would do two things - in this order, and I will explain the order as well...
In your case I would start with talking to a lawyer. The reason for this is because the lawyer will take your case, because there was another driver at fault. The lawyer will also help you get the medical care you need so that you don't have to worry about the costs of the care.
The lawyers job is to protect you, and because the other driver was at fault for this accident, and because PIP coverage is not required in Arizona, its likely you don't have PIP.
Therefore, the medical providers you seek treatment from will want to make sure their bills will be paid. This is how the lawyer will assist you.
Also, it is likely the lawyer will know doctors who they have worked with before who can offer you good treatment right away.
So, after talking to the lawyer and getting advice, you will call a doctor and be seen. You do not need to go to the ER - you can simply make an appointment with a medical doctor or with a chiropractor and be seen same day.
And then you can start getting treated. Health insurance is secondary insurance, and would only be used if there was no other coverage. As the other driver is insured it is unlikely that if you had health insurance that they would pay anyway, they would demand the other drivers insurance cover your treatment.
So. Fill out this form. It takes about 5 minutes or less. A lawyer from AZ will contact you right away and will be able to immediately help you with all things related to this accident.
This page will explain how insurance works in your state if you would like more info. Otherwise, fill out the form in the middle of the page and get the help you need.Arizona Bodily Injury
